The 21-track LP was preceded by the singer’s years on the live circuit and steady building an audience by way of critically acclaimed EPs and single releases.
The unorthodox approach has been proven fruitful for the songbird – who has nabbed multiple GRAMMYs, a Golden Globe, and an Oscar.

Smh I’m not surprised HER has released more singles that absolutely had nothing to do with the album and was overexposed. I mean she was deadass on songs I felt weren’t too genuine or authentic other than her collaborations on Skip Marleys Slow Down and Jasmine Girl Like Me. Top of that this debut lacks what caught many of our attention to begin with. Her first two EPS should’ve been the debut album. As I said before too, she’s hailed as the savior of R&B yet – Summer, Ari, Tinashe, Snoh, and Jhene all had better debuts than this musically including Victoria Monet too.
I was expecting her sales to be low, but yikes…
she’s good live though. saw her at a festival a couple years back. so maybe touring is where she makes her bag.
the album could’ve been a lot better, also, tbh. It felt like a compilation of songs and not a cohesive album to me. it would’ve benefitted from an editing eye/ear to trim a lot of the fat.
Was there promotion? I forgot it was coming out. But goes to show u that NUMBERS DO NOT MATTER. She’s well accomplished further than some of her more “popular” competitors who sell more.

Wow I’m not surprised. I was predicting and expecting her to do at least 50k in sales with streaming. These numbers are extremely low and is a clear indication that no one is checking for H.E.R. or it could be that no one knew of her album release, who knows🤔. This is not a good sign for the future of this album. She would need to do some serious promotion. @thatgrapejuice. H.E.R. does not have a Golden Globe. She was nominated for Best Original Song but lost to Diane Warren.

Her first EP was wonderful. That’s where she peaked. Everything after that was hit or Miss. How does she play all of these instruments but choose to sing over watered down beats. Where’s the piano, guitar and other instruments she supposedly plays? THEN she has no female collaborations on her album. She worked with Jazmine, Brandy, Ella Mai and Alicia Keys. Where are those songs? She chose Chris Brown and Ty Dollar Sign instead. Make that make sense. She’s one of those girls who believes their own hype. Overrated!!!

The album’s quite boring though…
I don’t really care about the sales.. but I’ll admit I was not impressed with the album. It’s entirely way too long. She has alot of hidden gems, but for the most part 8-9 songs sound exactly the same. It’s going to be a slow burn of an album, I’m not writing it off as a flop, there’s potential in about 3-4 tracks.
